February 2026 - Snowmaggdon

It was a tough month, one I wish we could cancel or send back. Temperatures were in the single digits with subzero wind chills made it harder to do anything; sleep, breathe, chores, etc. We also experienced our second snowstorm of the winter with over 2 feet of snow. Needless to say, we stayed a lot more than usual. I have an older car and it just wasn't worth risking a breakdown or having to wait for a ride & a tow in those conditions. As a side note, I had plans to pick up another vehicle this month but the storms have delayed delivery date until March.

Sven fell sick with a sinus, bronchitis, pneumonia stint. In and out is hard on he respiratory system, it can cause histamine reactions from the fluctuations in temps, which leads to fluid and troubles. He's doing ok, has medication, being monitored and seems to be on the mend. Fingers crossed.

Sven also celebrated his 7th birthday this month. We couldn't get out to shop for gifts or treats due to the weather, so he didn't get to share his birthday haul pictures. This year he expressed that he's older and not playing with toys as much, and he has enough as it is, he'd like a cushioned or padded mat for the living room instead and we'll be looking around for the right one.

Earlier in the month our outing with Grammy was cut short, with her dementia advancing, some things are changing and harder to control than others, wandering, rummaging, snacking etc. It was later revealed she had gotten into a bag of black licorice and prunes. We had to U-turn for home field advantage.
