March 2026 - All that glitters is not gold.

March was a turbulent month for us. A lot of behind-the-scenes things going on.
St. Patty's Day came and went; it was the first year in a long time I didn't cook for anyone. We did some laundry at a new place, in big machines. I traded my car for another one. Grampy had some medical tests done. I had some problems with my own eyes.
And then ... Mgt. calls demanding I need to come to the office immediately. We say jump, you day how high. I don't respond to the call, as I'm waiting on a ride to the ER about my eyes. They keep calling and leaving messages, insisting the social worker is going to come to my door if I don't respond. Turns out they wanted lease papers and recertification papers signed. Um, you gave me a deadline to have them in by Aug. 1st 2025, It is now March 2026. seven whole months later. It's not my fault you can't do your work in a timely. And now you are bullying me with demands and want me to illegally backdate signatures? OMGs. WOW. Boy that's really something else. Wait it gets even better...
Back in Nov. we got a new Mgr., in Dec. we got notices of "air quality issues" in our building. Downstairs neighbor had home health care and wore depends; there was always a faint pee smell. The upstairs neighbor had had guests' dogs sleep over, the other neighbor flooded the bathroom twice in 6 months... and they haven't done anything about it now for close to a year. And yet after th depends on guy moves out, Mgt. decided to blame us, accusing us of “dog smell” rather than address the real issues. I've done the same things I've done since the day we moved in, no one complained in all that time, until now.
There’s been two upstairs floods into our bathroom. The floorboards in between the floors never dried out properly. Neighbors left windows open in the upstairs hallway, rain got in, snow and ice and guests' dogs have soaked the lobby rugs, while the rugs dried out, the padding underneath never has, its musty. Rather than mgt. fixes the actual problems, they’ve chosen to blame my service dog just because he's large and maybe I can't handle him or bathe him properly. They even tried to get a social worker here offering to bathe my dog or me!
When confronted with photos that the unit is clean, all dog related items are stowed away in totes, including dirty laundry and photos of us doing laundry and the dog being bathed, mgt. decided to up the ante and conduct "air quality tests", to which they canceled and rescheduled just inconveniencing us further.
They also insist that I cage a working service dog. He’s a service dog for mobility & medical alert, there is no reason for him to be in a cage, he is to be at my side (unless injured, sick or resting). You wouldn’t take a wheelchair away from a paralyzed person or a white cane from a blind person. Service dogs are by law considered “durable medical equipment” not pets.
They’re trained to be around people, go into public places, and assist their handlers.
All of which my service dog has done, and it's been well documented that he's gone to hospitals, physical therapy, vaccine booths, restaurants and so on. There is zero need for me to waive my rights in my own home/apartment/unit. Much less force me to have to waive my rights under duress for drummed up fake lease violations rather than them do their jobs.
But I'm really not surprised, townsfolk tried to do this to a service dog organization that was established for years in this same town.
Sad to say, if it goes much further than it has already, without a doubt it's going to lead to legal action.
Below are a few pics from our travels.
